Walmart is trying to develop a string of patents so that they are able to use the blockchain technology to their advantage.
Recently, on July 5, it was awarded the patent for delivery of packages as well as scheduling of the packages. This clearly indicates that Walmart is moving bigtime on the blockchain technology.

According to the patents, public ledger will be used. If indeed, the public ledger is used, that clearly indicates that the blockchain technology is in use. Moreover, there will be reserving of capacity as well. With the resolving of capacity, it will streamline the entire logistics process.
The blockchain will enable that the capacity utilization goes higher. As a result, the unit economics will improve significantly as well. When the unit economic improves significantly, it will become much easier for most of the retailers to work efficiently. This is one of the main reasons why Walmart will be able to bring out the solutions with the help of these blockchain patents.

Currently, delivery is a pain point for most of the retailers, they are not able to easily deliver the products to clients in the countryside. Moreover, the tracking is not robust as well.
