Ripple Partners with 11 New Universities for Blockchain Research
Ripple has partnered with top 11 universities around the world for blockchain research.
According to Ripple’s blog post, University Blockchain Research Initiative (URBI) was started by Ripple to expand its partners in the education and research sector.
This URBI initiative also helps blockchain ecosystem to grow and was launched in June 2018 and supports over 29 schools to boost academic research on blockchain technology.
Today Ripple has partnered with top tier universities around the world for blockchain research.
The Universities Partnering with Ripple Include:
- National University of Singapore
- Carnegie Mellon University
- University of Sao Paulo
- Georgetown University
- University of Kansas
- Morgan State University
- Cornell University
- Duke University
- University of Michigan
- Northeastern University
- Institute for Fintech Research, Tsinghua University
How does University Benefit for this Partnership?
University Being a partner with Ripple in URBI initiative will be able to use resources, develop curriculum, host conferences and also will gain scholarships for faculty and students for working in blockchain or cryptocurrency technology.
URBI will be supporting the university to prepare next generation engineers and professionals to understand apply blockchain technology in real time.
Students will be able to learn the uses of blockchain technology across various industries. This will increase positive awareness among the universities to transform using blockchain technology.
Eric van Miltenburg, SVP of Global Operations at Ripple said this expansion to be more global will be able to support UBRI partners to develop their blockchain projects.
Miltenburg also said,
“In less than a year, our initial UBRI partners hit the ground running with the launch of new research projects, events, course offerings and more.”
The Faculty Director at Berkeley Haas Blockchain Initiative said that in Last December they have awarded Ripple-funded student and faculty blockchain digital payments. They also are sponsoring several student blockchain activities.
Last time we had seen Ripple donated $29 million in XRP to public schools. But here with this money teachers can finance books for the library, computers, field trips, etc.
URBI initiative is supporting the universities in their blockchain research area. This is good so that they will be able to support students in blockchain projects.
