Opera to provide built-in Cryptocurrency Wallet feature
The latest version of the Opera app on Andriod will come with inbuilt cryptocurrency wallet feature included to the browser. This certainly is great news for opera users as they need not go in search of separate extensions for crypto payments.
As of now, the feature is still in the beta version of the app and supports ETH, ERC-20 tokens and ERC-721 collectibles. However, developers are planning to add other cryptocurrencies as well based on community reaction.
It is to be noted that Web 3.0, the so-called next generation of the web is on its way. And interestingly, this wallet feature comes with built-in support for Ethereum Web3 API. As per Product Lead of Opera Crypto, Charles Hamel,
“We believe the web of today will be the interface to the decentralized web of tomorrow[..]By becoming the first major browser to open up to Web 3.0, we would like to contribute to making the internet of the future more accessible. Our hope is that this will accelerate the transition of cryptocurrencies from speculation and investment to being used for actual payments and transactions in our users’ daily lives”
With this feature, the user experience will be more enhanced and making payments using crypto wallet is made super easy. On the same lines, Hamel further commented that,
“Paying with the Crypto Wallet is like sending digital cash straight from your phone, and we’ve just made it easier. This opens up new possibilities for merchants and content creators alike”
