Opera adds Cryptocurrency Wallet for Desktop version

In July month of this year, we saw popular browser Opera integrating cryptocurrency wallet into its Android version. After huge success in the crypto community, now the company is planning to extend the same feature to the desktop browser also.

As per the official announcement made on Opera’s twitter account, very soon the built-in crypto wallet feature will be available on desktop version also.

Apparently, Opera is the first browser to launch an in-built crypto-wallet feature in its App. This enables the user not to be dependent on third-party software for making any crypto payments.

The essence of using Opera cryptocurrency wallet is that it relies on Android Security system and thus user need not store wallet password. With the new extension on the desktop, you can easily link these two apps just by scanning QR code. This is very much similar to what you do in WhatsApp.

Owing to the importance of blockchain in today’s world, Krystian Kolondra, Opera’s EVP Desktop, quoted that,

“Our next aim is to make crypto-integration mainstream. We believe blockchain technology has the power to transform the web of tomorrow and expect it to make a big difference in the years to come.”

As of now, this feature is experimental for beta users but the company claims to release it sooner for a large audience.

Also, Charles Hamel, Product Lead of Opera Crypto mentioned that,

“By adding a crypto wallet directly into the browser, we removed the need for complex extensions or separate apps.”

Interestingly, it is reported that Bitmain, the Chinese Bitcoin mining giant, will be purchasing $50 million worth of Opera shares during the latter’s IPO. Opera also mentioned that it has applied for ICO from US Security and Exchange Commission at the end of June.  And is waiting for approval on the same.

Looking at all these changes it is no doubt that Opera will be next big company in bringing a new experience to the crypto community.
