MailChimp automated mailing platform has made an official announcement to ban ICO and cryptocurrency on its platform. This legal change prohibits any of its services to be used for promoting cryptocurrency related content on its platform.
As per legal docs of MailChimp,
In addition, we can not allow businesses involved in any aspect of the sale, transaction, exchange, storage, marketing or production of cryptocurrencies, virtual currencies, and any assets related to an ICO, use MailChimp to facilitate or support any of these activities.
MailChimp claims that the reason behind the policy change is due to the fact that it wants to protect the millions of businesses that use its services to do marketing.
In view of this MailChimp warned its customers over email but customers expressed their fury over social site Twitter.
So @MailChimp is closing the Week In Ethereum account in four weeks because they hate blockchains.

According to MailChimp, marketing campaigns on ICOs have been shown to be ” frequently associated with the scam, fraud, phishing, and deceptive business practices .”
But it further adds that,
It’s important to note that this update to our policy does not prevent the discussion of related topics in messages sent through our platform.
MailChimp confirms that this decision will be in effect from April 30.
These services are widely used in the email marketing sector. The decision to ban the marketing of ICOs, adds to the list of companies that since January 2018 have been pushing regulations against the cryptocurrency sector.
Tech giants like Facebook, Google, Twitter have recently banned the use of their advertising platforms for content related to ICOs and cryptocurrencies.
