Craig Wright, the so called "father of bitcoin" indicted for stealing $5 billion in Bitcoin
In 2015, the computer scientist and Australian businessman, Craig Wright, announced publicly that he was Satoshi Nakamoto, the famous creator of Bitcoin. Many people in the Bitcoin community and other cryptocurrencies were skeptical of Wright’s claims and demanded more proof.
Wright and Kleiman created a cybersecurity company, W & K Info Defense Research LLC, in 2011. They also allegedly worked on the development of Bitcoin and its mining exploitation. Kleiman died in 2013 due to complications from a motorcycle accident in 1995. His family believes that Wright stole between 550,000 and 1 million bitcoins, which would now be worth more than USD $ 10 billion for the last amount.
The case was filed by Kleiman family in Federal Court of West Palm Beach, Florida, USA, on February 14 and as per statement from advocate
Craig faked a series of contracts that claimed to divert Dave’s assets to Craig and companies under his control.
Craig Wright, an Australian living in London, did not immediately comment. He was also charged with a breach of his obligation to cooperate with Kleiman by making him ill-gotten money at the expense of his colleagues. Court documents do not list Craig Wright’s attorney.
Surprisingly at no point is it mentioned during legal process that the two parties involved were the creators of bitcoin
It is not clear if Craig and Dave created the Bitcoin. For reasons not yet completely clear, both chose to keep their participation in this project as a secret to most of their relatives and friends. However, it is undeniable that Craig and Dave were involved with this cryptocurrency from its inception and that both accumulated a large amount of bitcoins from 2009 to 2013
The United States District Court issued a subpoena on February 15 for Craig Wright. However, it is not known if he will move to the country for the trial.
